Most business owners are overwhelmed and can't seem to get the important things done on a daily basis. It doesn't have to be this way ... if you can simplify what you really do.
The problem some business owners have is they get overwhelmed with one part of their business and they let the others go by the wayside. And then later on, they are trying to catch up on the part of their business they let slide.
Here is a tip that may help you avoid this trap.
I keep an index card on my desk to make sure I get the following things done every day.
1. Marketing
2. Client work
3. Social media
4. Reading / Research / Writing.
Marketing includes prospecting for new clients, JV partners, or speaking gigs; making phone calls; networking.
Client work may include anything from a phone consultation, a face-to-face meeting, working on a website, or anything else concerning delivering my product or service to a client.
Social media may be 2 minutes to post something, a couple of hours to find joint venture partners, or an hour to prospect for new clients.
Reading, research, and writing are all necessary to stay on top of the latest technologies and the latest business trends. I may read a couple of chapters in a book or a couple of magazine articles or spend 30 minutes writing an article.
So every day, I make sure I do something in each of these four areas. On some days, I am doing more client work because I have a pressing project. On other days, I may spend more time on marketing or on social media.
I just have to remember to do something in each of these areas on a daily basis.
Create your own list for your business. Simplify the process of getting things done every day. You will accomplish more and enjoy your business more.
