I am going to say something here that will sound a little silly. Some business owners seem to have an aversion to making money.

OR they say they want to make more money and become wealthy, but their actions speak otherwise.

I don't really know the reason for this, but I run into this mentality more than you would think. I hear things like, "I just want to help people." or "I'm not driven by money." C'mon. Really?

I'm not saying I am driven by money, because I'm not. My intent is to serve and to help people be more successful in their business and in their life. That is what drives me, and that is my motivation. Ask anyone who has worked with me, and they will tell you the same thing.

I did not go into business JUST to make money. But for me to have the most impact and to help more people, I have to make money to stay in business.

I started my business because this is what I do, this is where I can make the most of the skills that I possess, and this is my passion.

I enjoy seeing the benefits of what people achieve as a result of working with me. I like making a difference.

And I also enjoy making as much money as I possibly can. As long as I display integrity, humility, and empathy, then I am running my business in a way that is in line with my core values.

Do you want to make more money? Then focus on the money a little more, and figure out what you have to do in your business to increase your income.

Here are 5 more tips to help you in your journey towards increasing your income:

1. Create a monthly and yearly budget. What do you have coming in and what do you have going out?

2. In your business, focus on money-making tasks and manage your time wisely. The one common thread running through all successful people is they are extremely effective at managing their time.

3. Strive for work/life balance. This doesn't mean your life will always be in balance. You may have a period of weeks or months where you are in workaholic mode. That is okay. You still have life balance as long as you know this extreme period of work is for a brief time to complete a project or to move ahead in your business. Communication is key here. Let your family and friends know when you are going into workaholic mode.

4. Know when enough is enough. How much money do you need to make? How much money will you need before you feel financially secure? Have a clear vision.

5. Know what your work is worth.

I will leave you today with these closing thoughts.

One of the biggest causes of arguments in marriages that potentially leads to divorce is money. Money can't buy health but it greatly increases your chances of having a healthier life. With money, you can contribute more to charities and have a bigger impact in your community. You can achieve higher levels of education, therefore making you more capable of helping someone.

So go ahead. Do it. Go out and make more money. It's okay.
